To make the children understand that vegetables are an essential component of a healthy diet for physical growth and sound health, a mock vegetable market was set up in the classroom. Our children also acted on skits playing the role of a vegetable vendor. Fruit and vegetable crafts, rhymes, activities, games, and other resources presented an exciting way for our children to learn about these healthy foods. Children got to know and explore different kinds of fruits and vegetables in this activity. They had great fun with fruit-and-vegetable-related activities and other resources. In the school snacks, children are provided with fresh seasonal vegetables to tone up their growing physique. The school offers the children the opportunity to explore the broad range of knowledge and skills that lay the right foundation for good progress.
Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a beautiful garden.” It was depicted by the children of class I A in their class assembly held on 28th June through a short skit on “Everyone is important and special”. The assembly started with a discussion on whether we have treated all our friends the same in the class? Were we biased towards some of our friends? The Skit “Everyone is important and Special” is a story of how we are all different and special and yet all the same at the same time. Once all the numbers from 1 to 9 were feeling proud as they thought that they had value of their own and were special. They made fun of zero as zero has no value of its own, and they thought zero was useless. Then the master showed the numbers an interesting fact by calling each number and placing zero beside them making their value even greater. The numbers were awestruck and realised the importance of zero. They made zero their friend and zero became a hero by joining the number brigade. They celebrated their friendship by dancing to the peppy number –“Zero the Hero”. The moral of this skit was-“ Just as the way the numbers came together forgetting their differences, we humans should also try and forget our differences and always be united and co-exist together making this world a peaceful and liveable place”. The assembly ended with the children sharing a few insights-,” A single twig breaks but a bundle of twigs is strong,” I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot, together we can do great things.”

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals defined by the United Nations to tackle the world’s biggest problems by 2030. The goals form a useful lens through which we can look at the most pressing global issues. Hundreds of millions of people don’t have enough food to eat; women still earn less than men and have fewer rights; plant and animal species are rapidly vanishing; and the gap between rich and poor is getting wider. More than 40 per cent of the global population are between the ages of ten and 24 – the largest youth population ever. To solve the world’s problems, the next generation needs to know what those problems are. A good way to ensure this is to teach them about the SDGs. An assembly was held by students of Standard 8th D. The topic was “Responsible Consumption and Production” which was directly linked to the 12th goal of Sustainable Development. Students sensitized their peers towards conservation of water, natural vegetation and power through an emotional skit.

When children make things on their own they become responsible and don’t throw eating tantrums. Of course the habit of sharing was also very pronounced among the children during the snack break.Catch glimpses of the children happily tucking away into Jhalmuri.
