Zebarites visit old age home
To make our students passionate and empathetic towards those who are disadvantaged and in distress, students of grade 9 C visited the RJ Trivedi Suvarna Mandir Trust. The students were accompanied by the teachers and the Academic Advisor of the school Ms. Radhika Iyer. Zebarites carried thoughtful gifts of fruits and biscuits for the inmates of the old age home. Ms. Radhika Iyer gifted shawls to all the inmates.
Zebarites interacted with the Grandpas and Grandmas of the old age home. Some students played Garba while others sat and listened to their stories. This visit gave a deep insight into the students to some of the bitter and disillusioned realities of life, which turned out to be an eye-opener for all. Students averred on their way back to be always with their parents through thick and thin.
Penguins, Owls, Flamingo, Ostrich in Zebar Bird Sanctuary
We at Zebar believe that education is key to the success of children. Our teachers made learning come alive for preschool children by creating ‘Bird Sanctuary’ in school where they viewed birdlife and ecosystems practically. The pre-schoolers were taken for a tour of the bird sanctuary by their teachers. They were delighted to see penguins in the school and bats hanging from the window panes. Teachers used paper-cutouts and paper models to make birds. This tour enhanced their knowledge as they could observe the types of birds, their natural habitats, their food habits, their actual size and shape. Children discussed the specific characteristics with the teachers. It was an exciting and informative activity for the pre-schoolers as they got an opportunity to see the birds which they normally see on television or in books.
Visit to Blind Girls School
A visit was planned for students of 9th D under the SEWA project. This visit was aimed at sensitising the students towards the visually impaired section of society.
Students witnessed the morning assembly of the Blind school, where girl students sang the morning prayers soulfully. Zebarites checked the learning materials available and the unique modes of teaching used for the visually challenged.
Zebarites were touched to observe the spirit of care and compassion in them. They also got a chance to see the Vocational Training centre which prepares the visually impaired girls to make their living.
Our students left the place with a promise that they will keep revisiting the place and try to make a difference in the lives of the visually impaired.
