26th November is the National Constitution Day in India, honouring the Constitution of India and its history. Students of grades 11 and 12, under the guidance of Ms Jaskiran Sidhu and Ms. Barkha Jaseja, created awareness about the Indian Constitution and its making. The assembly began with a prayer and paved the way for the students to rejuvenate their spirits.
Thought of the day was presented by Mahek Shah, followed by an informative news report by Hrid Chatterjee. Then, our honourable Principal, Ms Sharmishtha Sinha, read the preamble of our Constitution, and the spirited students followed with the legendary words “We the people of India”.
The students left everybody spellbound and speechless with their detailed portrayal of the making of the Constitution in their act. The students painted the picture as they impersonated themselves Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mhd. Jinnah and many more.
The play depicted what went behind the scenes – from the Cabinet Mission, the Constituent Assembly, and the legendary ‘Tryst with Destiny’ speech by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. You can watch the video of the play https://youtu.be/tihLmYSVKUA
It followed an interactive session with the audience to pique their interest in the history of our Constitution. Our Vice principal Ms Mili Bhattacharya encouraged the students and appreciated their efforts.
