“An entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it and exploits it as an opportunity.” Truly asserted by Peter. F. Drucker, the founder of modern management, who believes that to exploit change, one has to innovate. Modern-day entrepreneurship is rooted in this idea. Entrepreneurship transpires when an individual who has an idea, acts on that idea, usually to disrupt the current market with a new product or service.
To inspire young minds, our dynamic Principal, Ms. Sharmistha Sinha , and Vice Principal, Ms. Mili Bhattacharyya, organised an educational excursion to the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) in Ahmedabad. EDII is a renowned national resource institute for entrepreneurship education, research, training, and institution building. It is an autonomous, not-for-profit institute established in 1983 and promoted by apex financial institutions such as IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., and the State Bank of India (SBI), with support from the Government of Gujarat.
The Grade XI students of Commerce and Humanities celebrated World Entrepreneurs’ Day at EDII under the guidance of their teachers, Ms. Anshita Shastri, Ms Barkha Jaseja and Ms. Asha Gidhawani. The tour was organized by Associate Professor and Co-ordinator Dr Pankaj Bharti, who dispelled common Entrepreneurship myths and highlighted its importance in India, the 3rd largest country in the world with the most Unicorn startups. The students were also given a campus tour.
The students learned about EDII’s Technology Business Incubator, “Centre for Advancing & Launching Enterprises (CrAdLE),” which provides workshops, courses, mentorship programs, and knowledge and skills to develop effective business plans. Ms. Neha Sharma, CEO of CrAdLE, and Mr. Dhruv Patel, Manager, shared examples of current incubatees researching bio-degradable bottles and medical instruments on campus. This visit significantly enhanced students’ enterprising spirit, inspiring them to develop their own successful business ideas.
